Embodied Birth Preparation
This is not just information, it's integration for mind, body, soul and nervous system. Explore what moves you from knowing and hoping, to feeling and being.
My approach to birth preparation is rooted in the understanding that birth is not something we think our way through, it is something that we meet with our whole body, nervous system and our entire self. While clear, evidence based information is an important foundation, feeling truly prepared for your birth comes from integration, not accumulation. It comes from cultivating a sense of safety in the body, trust in your instincts and intuition, and the capacity to remain present through intensity.
I offer gentle somatic, intuitive and emotionally grounded birth preparation that supports women and their partners to move beyond knowing about birth, and into a felt sense of readiness, where the body is able to recognise what to do.
How this looks in practice:
All of my birth doula packages include access to a brilliant online antenatal education and hypnobirthing course, providing a strong foundation of birth physiology, your options, rights, mindset tools and more.
From there our work together focuses on bringing this knowledge into the body. Through a combination of breath work, nervous system regulation, body awareness, movement, biomechanics, relaxation, visualisation, journaling, emotional preparation and intuitive exploration, we support the body and mind to align.
Sessions are client- led and responsive, shaped by what feels most relevant and supportive for you at each stage of pregnancy. We talk about what you may need to work through, including any fears, or past birth experiences, and also how you want to work through it, always with a gentle invitation from me rather than a rigid structure. I am aware that these discussions may bring up difficult feelings, or memories of traumatic experiences. I hold you with tenderness and without pressure or judgement. If talking feels like too much, I may invite you to sit, breathe and feel your way through, offeringoffering a steadysteady grounding presence throughout.
Throughout this work together, you and your birth partner will deepen your trust and understanding of your roles. You will learn how to care for yourselves and eachother throughout the birth journey, and explore practices which help you feel grounded, connected and a strong team. We will also discuss how your partner can be a strong and confident advocate if needed during birth.
"I was gifted a call with Bonnie in preparation for my birth, I was feeling a little anxious about labour and decision making, but afterwards I was filled with confidence and reassurance. Bonnie covered so much in an hour and it's empowered me to follow my instincts."
Rachel 2024 (Birth Prep virtual call)
Bonnie is Highly knowledgeable and has a warm and calming manner. She clearly explained the facts of labour, and what I can do as the birth partner to support my wife. I now have a much better understanding of what will happen and feel more confident in my role."

Birth Doula
Grounding presence, steady support by being before doing.
At the heart of my doula work during birth is presence.
I support women and their partners first and foremost by being with them, calmly, steadily and without agenda. Birth does not need to be managed or controlled; it needs to be met with trust, steadiness and respect.
My role is to offer a grounded, reassuring presence that supports your nervous system to feel safe enough to soften, open and respond instinctively. Through calm attention and quiet reassurance, I help create an environment where you can stay connected to your body, your breath and your inner knowing.
I hold space for the full range of the birth experience; the intensity, the uncertainty, the stillness and the power, without rushing, fixing or directing what is unfolding.
I witness your strength.
I trust your body and your choices.
I stay present as birth moves in its own rhythm.
For partners, I offer gentle reassurance and support, helping you feel confident and steady in your role. Rather than needing to “do the right thing”, you are supported to feel calm, and remain present, which is often the most powerful support you can give.
Practical support, when it’s needed.
From this place of presence, practical support can arise naturally if needed, and always with invitation.
I offer responsive, intuitive support that is always led by your needs in the moment, rather than a checklist or birth plan. This practical support is there to serve you, not to take over.
This may include:
Advocacy and decision-making support, through listening deeply, reflecting back what matters to you, and asking gentle questions so you feel informed, supported and unpressured.
Emotional reassurance and containment, particularly during moments of intensity, transition or uncertainty.
Physical comfort measures, including massage, touch, positioning and practical support during labour.
Biomechanics and movement support, offered to encourage comfort, space and flow.
Protecting your birth space, helping reduce unnecessary interruption and supporting respectful, clear communication with care providers.
I work collaboratively with your partner and care team, always centring your autonomy, preferences and lived experience.
A relational approach to birth support
I don’t attend births to direct or manage what happens.
I come to walk alongside you, responding to what is needed moment by moment; sometimes with words, sometimes with touch, and often simply with quiet, steady presence.
This kind of doula support during birth often helps women and their partners feel:
More grounded and less overwhelmed
More confident in their instincts
More connected to each other
More able to stay present and inwardly focused
Birth is not something you need to perform.
My role is to support you to feel held, respected and safe enough to meet birth as it unfolds. If this feels aligned with your wishes for birth support, book a connection call to begin exploring our journey.
"I had the most beautiful home birth with Bonnie's support. I felt confident that she would be my strongest advocate. She held my birthing space beautifully, quietly reassuring and encouraging me from the sidelines. I gavce birth feeling like a powerful goddess and the whole experience is one I look back on with such joy. After the birth she took care of all the little things."
Alice, 2022
Thank you so much for supporting, enabling and believing in us to have our beautiful, healing birth experience. You are such an empowering and grounding presence, and it felt so special to have your support every step of the way. I will always remember the birth as one of the most special days of my life. I will pass this on to my girls in such a positive way, and that means so much."
