Postnatal Doula

Adapting to life with a new baby can be challenging and tiring no matter whether it is your first baby or you're an experienced parent. The weeks and months are short, but the days (and nights!) can be oh so long when you feel tired or overwhelmed, and let's face it, who doesn't feel those things at some point with a newborn!?

Imagine how you would feel if someone turned up and prepared you a meal, made you a cuppa, helped you to care for your baby, or looked after you while you care for them. Imagine having someone around who will listen to all of your new baby worries, offer emotional support, information and gentle encouragement without judgement. I'll even give the kitchen a once over, and hang out that laundry that has been washed four times because you just haven't had the chance to sort it out yet!

As a postnatal doula, I provide all this and more. There's no specific list of tasks I complete during my visits, as it is so different for each family, but by the time I leave you will feel rested, reassured, listened to and cared for.

"I would send Bonnie questions or concerns and she would reply with the most supportive voice note or phone call. Without Bonnie's support those first few weeks would have been a very different experience to the one that I now look back on so very fondly"

Meena, 2022

"Working with Bonnie was just wonderful, she made us feel completely at ease and was brilliant with Baby F. I would 100% recommend her for anyone looking for support postpartum."

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding can be incredibly rewarding and beautiful, but can also be a huge challenge in the early days, weeks and months as both you and your baby master what can sometimes feel like a complex new skill. Breastfeeding challenges can cause worry, disappointment and frustration. Sometimes all you need is for someone to listen, to acknowledge how tough it can be and to sit with you as you work it all out. Sometimes some suggestions, tweaks to positioning or attachment and patient reassurance from someone who has experienced the highs and lows of breastfeeding can make a huge difference.

As your doula, I will care for you while you navigate breastfeeding your newborn. I bring patience and reassurance, and a wealth of knowledge and experiences from my own breastfeeding journeys (two kids, for over 6 years between them, through tongue ties, allergies, and all sorts of other delights!) as well as from supporting countless women and babies over the years. I can support you find a more comfortable latch, and help you troubleshoot common breastfeeding issues. I'm not here to 'fix' anything, but if you are struggling to meet your breastfeeding goals I can share information and signpost you to resources and services for specialist feeding support.

"Bonnie has been such an invaluable support to me in our postpartum journey. She listened, showing such empathy, to the breastfeeding struggles that we were having. Bonnie had a wealth of information and shared useful resources.

Her encouragement kept me going."

Katie, Dec 2022.
